You don&#8217;t need any previous contributor experience.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s going to be a fun day of contributing to the WordPress project, plus we&#8217;ve lined up some\u00a0informative\u00a0workshops.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"brighton-experiences\">Brighton experiences<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Brighton Beach<\/strong> \u2013 Brighton is well known for its traditional seaside (and seagulls!). Ideal for cooling off on a hot day, sunbathing, and lined with shops. You can follow the beach right through to Hove and beyond.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Graffiti<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0Strolling\u00a0around Brighton, you\u2019re sure to come across local graffiti art. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitbrighton.com\/inspire-me\/top-ideas\/top-10-brighton-graffiti-art\">Visit Brighton<\/a> lists maps of some\u00a0of the top graffiti locations.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brightontoymuseum.co.uk\/\">Brighton Toy Museum<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Right by Brighton Train Station and very close to the WordCamp venue. Spend a few hours browsing their extensive collection of model trains, puppets and vintage soft toys.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/brightonmuseums.org.uk\/royalpavilion\/\">Pavilion<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 The Royal Pavilion is a big palace right in the centre of Brighton. Built by King George IV, the Pavilion is absolutely stunning and a must-see.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/britishairwaysi360.com\/\">i360<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 It&#8217;s the brand new addition to Brighton\u2019s seafront. Check it out from the ground, or take a ride up 450 feet for 360\u00b0 views over Brighton.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/brightonpier.co.uk\/\">Brighton Pier<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 If you\u2019re wandering along the seafront, you can\u2019t help but notice Brighton Pier. It&#8217;s dotted with seaside activities, including a roller coaster and arcades\u00a0\u2013\u00a0plus fish and chips of course.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.picturehouses.com\/cinema\/Duke_Of_Yorks\">Duke of York\u2019s Picturehouse<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 If you\u2019re looking for a relaxed evening in watching arthouse films, head to Duke of York\u2019s. Photos by Tammie Lister.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"interesting-shops\">Interesting shops<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davescomics.co.uk\/\">Dave\u2019s Comics<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Located in Sydney Street among a whole host of independent shops, stop by Dave\u2019s comics \u2013 a graphic novel shop filled with action figures, board games and a load of comics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Many vinyl stores<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0As you explore Brighton, you\u2019re bound to stumble on some of the many vinyl record stores. Each of these caters to different music tastes. Try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.resident-music.com\/\">Resident<\/a> for new indie music, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acrossthetracksrecords.com\/\">Across the Tracks<\/a> for second hand amazingness, and the tiny <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/punkerbunker666\/\">Punker Bunker<\/a> for\u00a0punk.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/northlaine.co.uk\/visit\/profile\/snoopers_paradise\">Snooper&#8217;s Paradise<\/a><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0Filled with independent designers and bric a brac, Snooper\u2019s Paradise makes for an eclectic shopping experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitbrighton.com\/shopping\/the-lanes\">The Lanes<\/a><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0One of the things Brighton is most famous for \u2013 it\u2019s packed with independent shops and boutiques, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.choccywoccydoodah.com\/locations\/our-stores.html?___store=default\">Choccywoccydoodah<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.churchillsquare.com\/\">Churchill Square<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 This is Brighton&#8217;s largest indoor shopping centre, where you can find all the usual high street shops and food.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"pubs-bars-clubs\">Pubs, bars and clubs<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/brewedinbrighton.co.uk\/\">North Laine Brewhouse<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 They brew their own beer on site and have an extensive selection of other drinks and food.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theshufflebar.co.uk\/\">Shuffle Bar<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 A cocktail bar where you get to choose the music.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/maps\/place\/New+Rd,+Brighton\/@50.8240934,-0.1412586,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4875850ae9b600e5:0xfd62df8db6116c9a!8m2!3d50.8240934!4d-0.1390646\"><strong>New Road<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Right next to Brighton Dome, you can while away an afternoon on New Road and stay on well into the evening. Pop for a local craft beer at the newly renovated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrsfitzherberts.co.uk\/\">Mrs Fitzherbert\u2019s<\/a>, grab pizza at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinocchio.co.uk\/\">Pinocchio\u2019s<\/a>, head to the theatre-themed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecolonnadebrighton.co.uk\/\">Colonnade Bar<\/a> for a gin and follow up with a cocktail on the balcony at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmexicano.co.uk\/bar-valentino-cocktail-bar\/\">Bar Valentino<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.drinkinbrighton.co.uk\/black-lion\">The Black Lion<\/a><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0Right in the middle of the Lanes and near the seafront, The Black Lion is a place to hang out day or night. Based in the Lanes since 1993 their\u00a0amazing menu is packed with\u00a0tasty, indulgent dishes.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/waikikamookau.co.uk\/\">Wai kika moo kau<\/a><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0Amazing brunch (and good value too).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Kensingtonscafe\/\">Kensington Cafe<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 This place is all about the balcony and has a real 90s cafeteria vibe. Sit outside overlooking North Laine and choose from\u00a0a yummy selection of\u00a0all-day breakfasts and toasted sandwiches.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"short-trips\">Short trips out of the city<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lewes.co.uk\/\">Lewes<\/a><\/strong> (pronounced \u201cLewis\u201d) \u2013 Just 15 minutes by train from Brighton Station. Lewes is a great place to visit for a few hours or a day. It\u2019s a pretty town, the home of the Harvey\u2019s Brewery, and is packed full of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and caf\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/devils-dyke\">Devil\u2019s Dyke<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 On the South Downs, you can catch a bus or drive to Devil&#8217;s Dyke. You can even cycle or walk if you\u2019re keen. A stunning place to wander through \u2013 and the longest, deepest and widest dry valley in the UK.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/ditchling-beacon\">Ditchling Beacon<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 And some more amazing views from the highest point in Sussex.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"lg\">Do you have any suggestions of things to do in Brighton?
