So this year, we&#8217;re creating an event which breaks down more barriers to entry, reaches new and diverse audiences and encourages more people to get involved.<\/p>\n<p>We want to create an event where everyone with an interest in WordPress feels welcome \u2013 whether you are an attendee, a speaker, an organiser, a volunteer, \u00a0or participate in any other way.<\/p>\n<p>An important part of making people feel welcome is by being inclusive. That&#8217;s why we&#8217;re constantly thinking about what we can do to create a more inclusive event.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the things we\u2019ve put in place to help make WordCamp Brighton inclusive are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Promoting our <a href=\"http:\/\/2017.brighton.wordcamp.org\/code-of-conduct\/\">Code of Conduct<\/a> in the lead up and during the event<\/li>\n<li>All venues (including The Old Market stage) are wheelchair accessible<\/li>\n<li>Our full priced tickets (\u00a330) are much lower than the real cost per attendee (&gt;\u00a3100)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/2017.brighton.wordcamp.org\/2017\/07\/06\/diversity-tickets-for-under-represented-groups\/\">Giving away 10 tickets<\/a> to people from under-represented groups<\/li>\n<li>Providing a room for parents and their children to relax and have time away from the conference and after party<\/li>\n<li>Providing quiet rooms for attendees, speakers, volunteers and organisers<\/li>\n<li>All identifying information was removed before selecting talks<\/li>\n<li>Offering mentor support to all speakers<\/li>\n<li>Organising as much of this event as possible in the open on <a href=\"http:\/\/wpslack.uk\/\">Slack<\/a>, in the channel #wordcamp-brighton<\/li>\n<li>Continuously trying to reach more people from more diverse backgrounds and cultures<\/li>\n<li>Organisers are creating legacy documents for others to use and learn from<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are constantly adding to this list \u2013 if you have any ideas or suggestions about how we can make WordCamp Brighton more inclusive, we would love to hear from you. <a href=\"http:\/\/2017.brighton.wordcamp.org\/contact\/\">You&#8217;ll find all our contact details here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>WordCamp Brighton will be a safe and positive conference for everyone. <a href=\"https:\/\/2017.brighton.wordcamp.org\/code-of-conduct\/\">Learn more in our code of conduct.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We believe everyone should have access to the many opportunities this community provides.
