And we&#8217;re really pleased to say that we&#8217;re able to continue this initiative at WordCamp Brighton 2018 \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re trying to make WordCamp Brighton as inclusive and accessible as possible, so that <strong>anyone<\/strong> who has an interest in WordPress can attend.<\/p>\n<p>The WordPress community can provide a number of fantastic opportunities to those involved, and we believe that everyone should feel welcome to join in.<\/p>\n<p>And what better opportunity are there than <a href=\"https:\/\/central.wordcamp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WordCamps<\/a>? Organised entirely by volunteers, they&#8217;re a chance for the community to get together, learn, exchange knowledge and celebrate WordPress.<\/p>\n<h2>Free tickets for under-represented groups<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019re giving away 10 WordCamp Brighton tickets to people from groups under-represented at WordCamps.<\/p>\n<p>Under-represented groups include, <strong>but are not limited to<\/strong>, women, individuals with a disability, Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people and LGBTQIA+ people.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Why free tickets?<\/h2>\n<p>We hope that offering free diversity tickets will provide a bit of extra encouragement for those in under-represented groups to take part in WordCamp Brighton.<\/p>\n<p>We want to assure everyone: you absolutely <em>are<\/em> welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the other things we\u2019re doing to make WordCamp Brighton as inclusive and accessible as possible:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All venues (including Clarendon Centre stage) are wheelchair accessible<\/li>\n<li>Thanks to our sponsors, our full priced tickets are <em>much<\/em> lower than the actual cost per attendee. A WordCamp Brighton 2018 ticket costs \u00a330, but the real cost per attendee is over \u00a3100<\/li>\n<li>There will be a room for parents and their children to relax and have time away from the conference<\/li>\n<li>Hearing loops will be available in the main auditorium at the Clarendon Centre<\/li>\n<li>Quiet rooms will be available at the conference for all attendees to use<\/li>\n<li>All identifying information was removed before selecting talks<\/li>\n<li>Offering mentor support to all speakers<\/li>\n<li>Organising as much of this event as possible in the open. You&#8217;re welcome to join in (or observe) on <a href=\"http:\/\/wpslack.uk\/\">Slack<\/a>, in the channel #wordcamp-brighton<\/li>\n<li>Continuously trying to reach more people from more diverse backgrounds and cultures<\/li>\n<li>Promoting our <a href=\"http:\/\/2018.brighton.wordcamp.org\/code-of-conduct\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Code of Conduct<\/a> in the lead up and during the event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have any suggestions about how we can make WordCamp Brighton more inclusive, please <a href=\"http:\/\/2018.brighton.wordcamp.org\/contact\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">get in touch<\/a> with us and let us know.<\/p>\n<h2>How do I get a Diversity Ticket?<\/h2>\n<p>Diversity Tickets are available now by entering the coupon code <strong>WordPress2018<\/strong> on the <a href=\"http:\/\/2018.brighton.wordcamp.org\/tickets\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">ticket page<\/a> on this website.<\/p>\n<p>Diversity Tickets are limited to one per person.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any issues claiming a ticket, please <a href=\"http:\/\/2018.brighton.wordcamp.org\/contact\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">get in touch<\/a> and we can help.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify for a Diversity Ticket you don\u2019t need to explain to us (or anybody) why you think you\u2019re from an under-represented group. You also don\u2019t need to meet any specific criteria.<\/p>\n<p>The important part is: you&#8217;re welcome at WordCamp Brighton and we&#8217;d \ud83d\udc9c you to join us.<\/p>\n<p>10 tickets are available at the moment, but we&#8217;re looking into increasing this.<\/p>\n<h2>What\u2019s included with a Diversity Ticket?<\/h2>\n<p>Diversity Tickets come with exactly the same perks as the WordCamp Brighton 2018 Tickets, including full access to both Conference days, all workshops, the afterparty, and Contribution Day.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019d like to come along to our Contribution Day, don\u2019t forget to claim a ticket for that too. Contribution Day tickets are free for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Delicious vegetarian lunches are provided throughout WordCamp Brighton, as well as snacks, coffee, tea etc. We\u2019re also providing dinner at the afterparty. Any dietary requirements you may have will be catered for, just make sure that we&#8217;re aware of them.<\/p>\n<p>Please note, we won\u2019t be providing travel or accommodation.<\/p>\n<p>You can read more about what to expect at WordCamp Brighton <a href=\"http:\/\/2018.brighton.wordcamp.org\/about-wordcamp-brighton-2018\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Will anyone know that I\u2019ve claimed a Diversity Ticket?<\/h2>\n<p>No, not unless you want them to! We do not disclose any attendee purchasing information.<\/p>\n<p>Only <a href=\"http:\/\/2018.brighton.wordcamp.org\/about-wordcamp-brighton-2018\/organisers\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">this year\u2019s organisers<\/a>\u00a0will know who has a Diversity Ticket (this is because we have access to the WordCamp Brighton 2018 website admin).<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re more than welcome to tell people you\u2019ve claimed a Diversity Ticket though \u2013 it\u2019s totally up to you.<\/p>\n<h2>What if I claim a ticket but can\u2019t attend?<\/h2>\n<p>If you can\u2019t attend WordCamp, we ask that you <a href=\"http:\/\/2018.brighton.wordcamp.org\/contact\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">get in touch<\/a> with us as soon as possible to let us know. That way we can release your Diversity Ticket for someone else to use.<\/p>\n<h2>Please help us spread the word<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019re aware we need to reach beyond our usual networks to increase the diversity of WordCamp Brighton.<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, we would love if you could help us spread the word.
