Every year we try to create an event which can break down barriers to entry, reaching new and diverse audiences and encouraging more people to get involved. And we aim to continue to do so this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We want to create an event where everyone with an interest in WordPress feels welcome \u2013 whether you are an attendee, a speaker, an organiser, a volunteer, or participate in any other way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An important part of making people feel welcome is by being inclusive. That\u2019s why we\u2019re constantly thinking about what we can do to create a more inclusive event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the things we\u2019ve put in place to help make WordCamp Brighton inclusive are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Promoting our Code of Conduct in the lead up and during the event<\/li><li>All venues will be wheelchair accessible<\/li><li>Our full priced tickets (\u00a335) are much lower than the real cost per attendee.<\/li><li>We\u2019re giving away 15 free tickets to people from under-represented groups. <\/li><li>Providing quiet rooms for attendees, speakers, volunteers and organisers<\/li><li>All identifying information will be removed before selecting talks<\/li><li>Offering mentor support to all speakers<\/li><li>Organising as much of this event as possible in the open on <a href=\"http:\/\/wpslack.uk\/\">Slack<\/a>, in the channel #wordcamp-brighton<\/li><li>Continuously trying to reach more people from more diverse backgrounds and cultures<\/li><li>Organisers are creating legacy documents for others to use and learn from<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are constantly adding to this list \u2013 if you have any ideas or suggestions about how we can make WordCamp Brighton more inclusive, we would love to hear from you.
