Need to squeeze in a bit of work during your stay in Brighton? Here’s a list of tried and tested work spaces.
To make your search for the perfect work spot easier, we’ve put together a selection of places for you to try. Most of these are cafés and they all have:
- Fast wifi
- Coffee and tea
- Great food
- A welcoming, relaxed atmosphere (nobody will make you feel like you need to leave)
- Inspiring décor
So in no particular order, here’s where you can find reliable wifi and get some work done during your stay in Brighton:
Presuming Ed Coffee House
Location: 114 London Road, Brighton, BN1 4LJ
Opening hours: 8am-7pm, Monday-Saturday. 9am-7pm, Sunday.
What it’s like: Ed’s is a laid back, yet bustling café. You’ll feel comfortable working all day long, with fast wifi, plenty of plug points and outdoor seating.
The music’s good, the décor’s eccentric and there’s always a diverse crowd – making it an inspiring place to work. They serve great coffee and a big selection of food, including cakes and sandwiches. Lots of choice for vegetarians and vegans too.
Cafe Plenty
Location: 3-4 Circus Parade, New England Road, Brighton, BN1 4GW
Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm. Saturday, 9am-6pm. Sunday, 9am-5pm.
What it’s like: A big open space with long tables, really fast wifi and lots of plug points – Plenty is ideally set up for remote working.
Their coffee is good, as is their massive selection of specialty teas. The team are super friendly and are more than happy for customers to stick around. You won’t go hungry with the amazing lunch menu, which includes lots of healthy options. There’s also an impressive selection of cakes and pastries made in-house.
Joe’s Cafe
Location: 24 Upper Hamilton Rd, Brighton, BN1 5DF
Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm. Saturday, 9am-3pm.
What it’s like: One to check out if you’re near Seven Dials, or fancy a trip up that way (about 15 minutes walk from the train station). Joe’s is a little, informal café with outside seating at the front and back.
Joe’s is hidden from the main road, so despite it’s small size, you’ll usually walk in and find a table. Their brunch menu is extensive, with lots of options for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans. And their wifi is fast.
The Cow
Location: 95-97 Dyke Rd, Brighton, BN1 3JE
Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 11am-late. Saturday 10am-late. Sunday, 11am-10pm.
What it’s like: Seven Dials is an area filled with great little shops, cafés and restaurants. But somehow The Cow is one of the few places in the area with good wifi.
They do serve coffee. But it’s a pub so you’ll probably be there to try out the selection of local (and not so local) beers, ciders and wines.
Cafe Coho
Location: 83a Queens Road, Brighton, BN1 3XE
Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-6.30pm. Saturday-Sunday, 9am-6pm.
What it’s like: Another trendy café (yep, Brighton has a lot of cafés), Coho is conveniently located near the main Brighton Train Station. There are actually three Cohos but this one is the best for working. Grab a table and a coffee or tea, and you’ll be in remote work bliss.
Silo
Location: 39 Upper Gardner Street, North Laine, Brighton, BN1 4AN
Opening hours: Monday-Thursday, 11am-4pm. Friday-Sunday, 10-4pm. (Also open Tuesday-Saturday, 6pm-11pm for dinner)
What it’s like: Silo is an uber cool café / restaurant in the centre of Brighton. It has a fancy feel to it, but don’t be fooled – it’s also very homely. It’s the ideal place to catch up on a bit of work, or to meet up with colleagues. I’m a big fan of their coffee, their zero-waste policy and their pastries.
This is just a small sampling of the places you can go. And if you don’t need wifi, the choices are endless, including Brighton Beach, The Lanes and Hove Lawns. With so many inspirational places in and around Brighton, you’re sure to find somewhere to settle down and work during your stay.
